Primera Infancia - Fundación Smurfit Kappa Colombia

Early Childhood

We offer direct and integral attention to children under 6 years old, in vulnerable situations, to their families and the community, in four Child Development Centers (CDIs) in Yumbo and Vijes, as well as helping to strengthen and support the work of community mothers of Community Homes and FAMI Homes of the ICBF.

CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTERS (CDIs)

We currently work through 4 Child Development Centers:

EL CARACOLÍ
ALCARRAZAS DE COLORES
LOS PICAPIEDRAS
GOTITAS DE AMOR

El Caracolí

It is an institution founded in June 2010, it represents the public-private partnership between the Smurfit Kappa Colombia Foundation, a business foundation; the North American foundation First Step Big Step, a private international foundation; and the Colombian Family Welfare Institute – ICBF, a representative of the State.

This entity dedicates its efforts to early childhood, the most important stage of human development, thus contributing to the reduction of social inequality, the permanence of children in the educational system and the generation of positive impacts on social, economic and cultural processes in the communities.

COMMUNITY HOMES AND FAMI HOMES

Since 2010, the Smurfit Kappa Colombia Foundation, in partnership with the Colombian Institute for Family Welfare – ICBF, has supported the community mothers of the welfare homes that the institute serves in the areas of influence of the Company’s Forestry Division.

Through this program, the Foundation contributes to raising the quality of life of children under six years old by improving environments that favour their physical, emotional and cognitive development. The program also seeks to strengthen and guarantee the rights of children in early childhood and the co-responsibility that the family and society share with the State.
